Science is my 5th period class, my science teacher is Mrs. Poole. On Wednesdays we don't have science because we get double periods for computer class.
In science we did an edible cell and our options were to either make an animal cell or a plant cell, and my group and I decided to make an animal cell. The items that we used to make our animal cell were red vines, m&m's, original gummy worms, chips ahoy cookie, orange, grape, white frosting, lucas strings, top ramen noodle, and cake. The food items all stood for a part of an animal cell. The parts were the vacuole, mitochondria, E.R, cytoplasm, cell membrane, cytoskeleton, lysosome, nucleus, nucleolus, golgi complex, and the ribosomes. I learned that the cell has many different parts to it, and that they all have different jobs to do. I chose to talk about this assignment, because it was fun to do, and a great way to learn the different parts of the cell.
In the second quarter in science we took an 100 question test. The test was basically about everything we had learned and known so far. The test had taken us almost for about half an hour to do. This test was a little difficult because it had many questions. The test was basically based on cells, and mostly other living things. I chose to talk about this assignment because it was difficult, and the longest test I've ever taken.
This third quarter in science we learned about the rock cycle and how the rocks form. Besides just learning the rocks and rock cycles we got to name rocks and also made a rock cycle diagram ourselves. When we did the diagram we had to figure out where every part went on by ourselves. Once we have learned everything we had to take a test on the diagram and on many other things of the rock cycle. I chose to talk about this because I didn't really know much about rocks until now.
For this fourth quarter we did an animal project. The animal project was based on an animal from the zoo. The animal my group and I got was the white-blotched river stingray. This stingray is different from a regular stingray. They are different from each other because a white-blotched river stingray has white spots on its body and a regular river stingray is just white. A few weeks after we had done our presentation and all the research on our animal we went to the zoo. We went to t he zoo to be able to see our animal and be able to see how it looks like if we have never seen it before. I chose to talk about this because I enjoyed it a lot and because I got to see new animals that were just brought in.
